  These photos  accompany the Oakland Outdoors hiking column exploring the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge (DRIWR) appearing in the October 23 edition of The Oakland Press www.theoaklandpress.com   The event was a celebration of a new trail connecting  Lake Erie Metropark  www.metroparks.com  with the DRIWR  www.fws.gov/midwest/detroitriver .  A job well done, for wildlife, trail users and all outdoor recreationists with help from the International Wildlife Refuge Alliance. www.iwralliance.org
